Open Riser Staircases
A unique twist on the standard staircase design, open tread staircases create a sense of openness, making a room look more spacious. Best suited for contemporary living spaces and homes with minimalist interiors, open tread staircases have treads attached to side rails, which are known as stringers. Unlike closed tread staircases, these staircases do not have full height risers. Instead, an open space of 100mm or less is left between each tread, which creates a more open and light feel.
Open riser construction is a versatile option for indoor, as well as outdoor applications.
While open tread staircases are an excellent choice in terms of aesthetics and performance, their design and construction is subject to stringent building regulations. At Surrey Bespoke Joinery, we specialise in the design and construction of fully compliant traditional timber open tread staircases.
When designing a bespoke solution for our clients, our primary objective is to fulfil your design and performance expectations, while ensuring the complete safety of your loved ones. To ensure this, we ensure compliance to building regulations, as well as use our experience and expertise of designing staircases to craft a solution that looks elegant and offers exceptional performance.
Depending on your preferences, we can also design open tread staircases with wooden treads and stringers and a balustrade of either glass, or timber spindles.
If you have an innovative idea regarding the design of your staircase, we welcome you to discuss with our experts as we love working on projects that challenge our skills and creativity.
